Hose tail

The common stepped hose tail

When connecting two pieces of equipment together the easiest thing to use is a hose. How ever it is quite surprising how many do not know the proper use of a hose tail.

The hose tail screws directly to the piece of equipment, for example a U.V. Clarifier, (most come with hose tail already fitted) you should offer your hose to the hose tail and see how far down it will go. Then mark this point. Remove the hose, at the point you marked you should then look for the next increment DOWN in size, (see diagram 2) this is where you cut the hose tail (junior hacksaw is very good)

You then put the hose onto the hose tail and ideally clamp with a "hose clip" repeat with other hose tails.

Make sure that you check where the hose ail should be cut. Some hose tails have more than one step, so you may have to cut more or ess than or example shows.

If you do not cut any off, and the hose will fit over a bigger section then you will be severely reducing water flow.
