Dale says, the pond is not all that deep, it used to be a different shaped pond, so some of the excavation was already done. It was mostly topsoil to be removed as the pool is only 1foot deep.

The hardest part was installing the liner, getting it right at the major corners was not easy. Dale's tip. Don't try making an L shaped pond it is harder than you think.

We asked Dale, would you do it again?

"Despite the tricky parts I would love to do it again, when you finish a
project like this and stand back and take a good look at the end result its fantastic!"

The pumps are both made by Hozelock (one for the waterfall and another for the filter) and came from the original pond. The only thing extra he had to buy was the filter and the edging stones. Dale says total cost would be around £400

Editors note: well done Dale, and thanks for sharing this with us all, but do look at getting a UV.

Update 2009 (09 03 09)

Hello, Just wondering if you are still updating the website? I sent in some photos & a little description of my pond back in 2007, well i've been hard at it again, took it out and built another one in its place.
Thank you,

Dale Rodgers.

Editors note: Hard work was an understatement. Come and see what Dale has done now on his Dale's pond page
