Pond lighting

Pond lighting

The use of pond lighting is similar to garden lighting. Pond lighting is low voltage. You can not buy mains pond or fountain lighting for use in the U.K.

You must never put ordinary garden lights into a pond since as they are not designed for the job they will fill with water and short circuit the power supply, possibly causing a fire.

WHAT IS AVAILABLE
Most underwater lighting comes as flood lighting (No pun  intended) One of the exceptions to this is the "lunaqua 2" light (shown on the left) It has a variable angle and can be mounted above or below the water surface. It is available from Exclusive Fountains
CHOOSING

As with garden lighting the easiest way is to buy a "kit" But since it is for underwater you have to use the lights as pre-wired or use a special underwater connection, that said there are a few kits that have optional underwater lights that are connected outside of the pool.

POSITIONING

The best position is under the "fall" of what ever nozzle you have or directly under the water as falls from a water fall. since it will give a "glow" You can also put a light inside a feature, so that you can not see the actual lamp but the glow of the light.

Colours

Colours are important we would recommend oranges, reds and yellows for in pool lighting as they are "warm" as most lights come as white why not add a coloured filter

As with all electrical products please read the manufactures instructions and please always use an R.C.D

We welcome your pictures why not send us yours
