Pond safety is something that we should all take into consideration no matter
what you are doing, but even more so where ponds are concerned,
especially with children.
By nature children are inquisitive and they will no doubt "want
to investigate" what that little pair of eyes are in that "big
puddle" to you and me it is a frog or fish looking out, but a child
does not know that, they will lean in to get a better look or reach in
to grab it and ......... in they go.
There is no polite way to put it but you can drown in 2cm of water.
If you have a pond and children are visiting then ACCOMPANY them at
all times. It is no use thinking "oh so and so will be all
right, its only a pond, i am only going to make a cup of tea so i will
not be long" then the phone rings etc etc
How would you feel knowing that your pond was responsible for the
death of a child.
Did you know that most child drowning's happen in other peoples
ponds. If you have a pond and small children then please FENCE IT OFF SECURELY
or better still drain it and make it into a sand pit.
If you still want to have water in your garden also consider a water
feature such as our layered
fountain or our pot feature
these both have running water, but no visible pool because they use a
sump
you could even fill the whole pool with gravel as shown
here
