Hi, I am in Heswall, UK
I am working on some designs for a large freeform pond in my garden. I
know where it is going and the relative sizes, but what I am having
trouble with is some decking that I want to put overhanging the pond next
to my shed.
I was wondering if you could tell me the best way to support decking over
a pond and would there have to be a post in the actuall pond itself?
Thanx, Ed
As you know decking needs a lot of support, any timber
immersed in water 24/7 will need very good treatment (To prevent it
rotting) which may affect the livestock of the pond. There is also the
danger that even over a short time the timber may puncture the liner.
I would suggest a suitably sized timber beam secured at
both ends, so that it spans the pond in the are to be covered in deck. But
it will need to be substantial to take the weight.
If any one else has a suggestion for Ed, drop us a
