Just a message of thanks for your easy to understand explanation of the need for an RCD.

Just a quickee to say thank you.  I have found it very difficult to obtain a book in garden centres which would advise me on all the little details of watercourse construction.  Then I found your site with its down-to-earth (no pun intended) advice and I was confident enough to make a start.

I seemed to have all the right materials and the holes dug and the sand lining them but........................

When I stood back and looked at it - all I had a big black sheet sitting out in the garden with a stone at every corner.  It did not look anything like my anticipated mountain stream.  My wife was not going to be impressed!  I decided to go back to your site.

You said, "Now you can trim off the surplus but leave at least six inches all around. You can now decorate the edges with what ever material you have chosen."

Simple!!

Thanks.

Dear Editor,

I have just found your site on the internet and as I am about to embark on building a pond I thought I would write to say what a great site you have, explaining all the do’s and don’ts of building a pond.

I am a complete amateur so I will certainly read your site before starting.

Great site!

Quote from you web site "Also it doesn't particularly do your fish / wild
life any good either"

I think that the above statement is a little unfair.  The use of Blue dye in
ponds does no harm to fish or any form of living wildlife if used at
recommended dosages.  In fact, at the minimum dosage you would hardly know
that any dye was present at all!

Peter J Watson

Editor says:

Peter would say that, considering he works for a dye supply company. There is no point in putting dye in a fish or wildlife pool (and as peter says "at recommended dosages") so what happens if you exceed the dose? and why bother in the first place? People with ponds etc want to see the fish / wildlife, not hide them with dye

In short, never put dye in water where there is wild life.

Dear mywatergarden.co.uk

I have visited your site and wonder if you would consider a reciprocal

To be fair, I removed the url

Dear Webmaster,

This is a Link Exchange Request on behalf of my client's site a link to blinds for windows  (PR3). We are very choosey about who we approach for a link exchange but I found your great website whilst searching for relevant link partners and would like to ask if you would be interested in exchanging links

I guess some people are just stupid! why would we, a water gardening website want to link with some one who sells blinds for windows?

This site sells NOTHING!

I have visited your site which I feel is very informative.

I have searched through the net for a solar water pump, but the more I read, the more confused I become.

I own a +/- 2 acre field and have dug out a circular pond measuring approximately 5 feet deep with a diameter of approximately 12 feet.  It is partly built of stone and party dug into solid bedrock. I have yet to plaster it through with water resistant cement/sealer. In the middle I thought of building a “pyramid” of rubble stone/rock as a feature, through which I intent passing a pipe which would then be connected to a pump to create my water feature. I also intend having a second pipe which would help in irrigate a small piece of land (there is no height issue here since the land is situated about 5 feet below the water level).

I have no electricity available and thought of purchasing a solar pump to satisfy my needs. My question is, what type of pump do I need? I thought that a rotary pump on dry land (as opposed to a submersible) would be more convenient so that servicing (when needed) would be simpler + I would be able to control the flow and switch from the pond to the irrigation system much simpler. What power solar panel would I need? I do not need to pump to work at night so a battery pack would not be needed. On the plus side, I live in “sunny” Malta so direct sunlight is not an issue – and even if it would be cloudy or overcast for a couple of days that would not be an issue either. Finally –would you be able to supply such a system, and what would it cost me (to include delivery to Malta.

Many thanks for your assistance.

Best regards

Don't see what's wrong?

1) Read the solar pumps page.     2) Question: what do I sell? Answer NOTHING!
